Brooklyn Heights Library & Shelter

280 Cadman Plaza W

The program for this project asks to consider the importance of a library in today's society. Do libraries today only function to support research or do they act as important public spaces in which people can gather, meet and interact? How does a library enrich and support its community?

280 Cadman Plaza W is located in a neighborhood where youth homelessness is at an all-time high. Today's children are the future and it is important to guide and provide them the same opportunities no matter their socioeconomic status.

The Brooklyn Heights Library & Shelter aims to assist those in need by providing a stress-free environment for advancement. Those visiting will be provided with a roof over their heads, as well as tools from professionals in the homeless youth advising center.
